It is posted as an aid to understanding the episode for those who may be hard of hearing or those looking for additional resources. How many of you have landed on Fiverr.com or Upwork.com and don’t know where to start?

You keep scrolling and do nothing. Overwhelm kicks in. Analysis paralysis ensues.

I get it. Whether you’re exhausted by decision fatigue to figure out which designer to hire, to trying to navigate the software yourself, hopefully these tips can help you on your search. Because we all just want to find someone who truly gets it, right? The road to success isn’t always a well paved path. It takes some digging and some clarity to achieve it together. Here are some tips to consider when working with your next designer.

1.) They have the personality to boot More and more each day, teams are growing with the person in mind. That person you hire needs to mesh well with your core values, work ethic, and synergy with you and the rest of your growing team. Definitely keep in mind what their relevant experience is as it will reduce the learning curve. But consider the person behind the screen equally. Book a quick ZOOM and see if you’re a good fit.

2.) They set clear expectations

There’s nothing more frustrating than not knowing what’s going on with your project. Whether you’re transparent about the scope or skillset you’re looking for to having a distinct goal in mind for the project, share that with your designer! Transparency and authenticity goes a long way. Setting boundaries will also allow you both to get on the same page moving forward. Understanding what you’re going to get out of it, how to manage it post-project, and when their hours of communications are will allow you to get on with what you do best. 3.) They create reliable communication methods

Maybe your two favourite words are communication and deadlines too? If you’re always the one sending those reminders and are being left in the dark - it’s time to find another designer, my friend. Decide on a platform that works mutually for you both, whether it’s via email, Asana, Google calendar or a combination to keep one another clear and accountable to get the job done.

4.) They will power through I know that you want your brand to make a difference in the world, and that you need a designer who cares about your business values as much as you do. At the end of the day, you need to get that job done. Perseverance and determination speaks volumes. If you’re looking for someone dependable, who can deliver - even when the wifi is weak and the deadline is tight - that designer will become your weapon of choice. 5.) They support you

Entrepreneurship is hard. You’re doing a kickass job. Having an ally in this crazy world can be such a life saver. Your success is my success too. We can indeed grow together and lift by raising one another up.

You want to find someone who can show the world exactly who you truly are without having to deal with a big agency who treats you like a number, or a freelancer you met online who doesn’t understand what it’s like to run their own business and face the challenges like you and I do. Good luck on your search for success, my friend! Enjoy the Brand Party? Leave a rating & review to share all the fun we've had. Until next time!
